Employers Know About, Use and Are Satisfied with One-Stop Services

A study by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) – GAO-05-259 – found that approximately half of all employers are aware of their local one-stops and awareness levels increase with employer size. About half of small businesses, two-third
s of medium, and three-quarters of large employers know about their one-stops. Employers of all sizes primarily use one-stop services to help fill job vacancies. Sigurd Nilson, Ph.D., GAO’s Director of Education, Workforce, and Income Security, said he was surprised by the results, "Employers knew about the one-stops much more than I ever thought they did." The GAO study was by a telephone survey of more than 3,000 respondents, with samples from small, medium and large employers. Following a statewide business campaign in Washington last year, 88 percent of targeted employers reported being aware of WorkSource.
